Minnie Mouse Ears

Minnie Mouse Ears
These little hair clip cuties were recently made out of black circles that I made out of a thicker size cotton thread.  By attaching the circles to the hair clips and adding your favorite color bow you can make an adorable hair clip accesssorie to go with every outfit.

My Day Job

Every 3 weeks I have an important job to do.  I am the caretaker of a very old cemetary. Its one of the oldest in my town with the church established in 1833.  Buried here are even some Civil War vet's.  My job is to cut the grass, week wack, remove tree limbs, adjust flowers, and momento's left for loved ones, and make sure the cemtary is in great shape. The week that I have to work I am not able to crochet as my work hours are 10 to 12 hours a day for that week.  This summer has been a very hard one as the humidity and temperatures have been in the 100's.  Although I keep hydrated drinking plenty of water and using 50 sunblock I am fair skinned and burn very easy.

I thought I would share with you pictures of the cemetary so you see what I do.  Its not the normal job, but its one that you have to have alot of respect for.   So just for a moment you can see when I don't get back to the convo's on etsy right away the job I do do.  Lily

Sizzle, Sizzle, Pop!

Did you every have one of those mornings, where you are half awake, half asleep, just poured your first cup of coffee, sun just coming up, beautiful scene and you sit down at your lap top to check the morning mail before you begin your daily routine?   It's a wonderful scene, there is only silence, a bird chirping outside, and  your day begins, with Stumble, Sizzle, a Pop and no laptop.  Yes that is what happened last friday.

After tripping over slippers that I had tossed off my feet, they ended up being the downfall of my computer.  I tripped with coffee in hand, and a tidal wave of coffee leaped from my cup and landed into my computer.  My beautiful Christmas present some years ago from my wonderful husband who wanted me to have the most updated computer there was so my business efforts of internet selling would be go smoothly.

Oh, how I enjoy those days!  Not to complain, there is still hope that my data is not all lost.  I will know shortly though.  Until then, my wonderful son has given me his old laptop.  Old meaning, its 4 or 5 years old, not alot of memory, window xp, and suited for his taste, but it works, its alive, and will not be drinking its first cup of coffee anytime soon.  That now stays far away, back where the birds chirp, the sun is coming up, and the smell in the air is of El Salvador coffee, no sizzle, sizzle, pop.

Thought you would enjoy my day.  Love to hear your story, I know I am not alone in computer mishaps.  Lily

Crochet Butterfly Applique.  These are a double layered butterfly and measure approximately 2" wide.  They do fit on a standard hair clip and have no beading so they are perfect for children as well as adults.  You can get them in any color combination, just email me or contact me at etsy or ebay.

Crochet Bubble Gum Machine.  My kids love bubble gum and the other day we had passed one and it had given me the idea to come up with a pattern for one.  Its only about 1" wide but its 2 1/4" tall.  It has various beads in the bubble part of the applique.  Just cute.

Crochet Watermelon Appliques.  One of my favorites to make.  I make them in the pink, rose and red centers.  They measure just 1 1/4" wide.
Crochet Lady Bug Appliques.  The ladybugs can be made in many colors, not just red.  I have done them in blue, green, and purple.  Just a cute little applique for the summer.
Just added some new appliques to my catalog.  Have so many I want to make that I am so proud of myself when they are finally finished.  Thought I would share some of the new designs.

New Designs

I have added some designs in my shop.
Easter Bunnies are made out of fluffy terry yarn that was discontinued but oh so soft.
I have been making some with a pom-pom face and some with a embroider face.
They are just perfect for adding to hair clips, head bands, booties and more.

The new two-toned peek a boo flowers are made with cotton crochet thread and have a white top layer with a bright red back layer that peeks through the flowers at the petal edges.
In the center of the flowers are white pearls.

So just a couple of new designs for January 2010.

ANew Year, A New Start, A New Beginning

Now that the New Year has begun, many new and exciting opportunities are in reach.  Being a almost 50 year old crafter, I spent much of the year learning a great deal about what is important when it comes to crafting.

Having always enjoyed crafting since I was little, it has always been apart of my life.  Whether picking up a crochet needle to sewing.  Creating a painting to embroidering.  Everyone has something they enjoy doing and you have to ask yourself if you would like to earn money doing something you love.  Your hobby could turn out to be a money maker for you.

So my wish to everyone reading this is that you have a successful year, filled with many new opportunities.  That you empower yourself, no one else is going to do it for you.  It starts with you, believe in yourself, your abilities, your product.  The big secret to having a successful business is there is no big secret.  Whatever your goal is you can get there if you're willing to work hard.

Be willing to do what you think you cannot.

Happy New Year to All!
